Marriage : covenant or contract
Published in Paperback by Family Foundations (1992)
Author: Craig S. Hill
Average review score:

A timeless answer to dysfunction in our communities.
Craig Hill is a pastor who has many years experience in counseling couples. After re-marrying many people who had experienced divorce, he decided to turn to the bible for answers.
In his book he uncovers some ancient truths that cut across western social norms. God's word, the bible, has the blue print for all the things that we need for life Craig believes.
Advocating for a bigger picture of life and a self sacrifical attitude, Craig encourages us to allow the life of God to transform us and make us new in our marriages which also affects every other relationship. The selfish attitude stands in opposition to God's attitude of Self sacrifice and Craig Hill spells out a warning that the he says we need to heed.
A very challenging and provocative book.

This book teaches you how God really feels about marriage.
I believe marrage is so much more than we in America have grown to think it is. Craig explaines in this book 'what marriage is and what it is not, from God's perspective." Also, some very sound teaching on divorce and remarriage from God's point of view. Should be must reading for all who are planning marriage, for those who are currently married and for those who are divorced.

A great book, will challenge views on marriage and divorce
Craig investigates the history of divorce and remarriage theology, and talks about the current divorce crisis of today. He argues that our "contract" perspective on marriage (if you don't fulfill your part of the bargain, I can leave) is in opposition to God's model of covenant (no matter what you do, I'm committed for life).

Matthew (New American Commentary, Vol 22)
Published in Hardcover by Baptist Sunday School Board - Baptist Book Stores (June, 1992)
Author: Craig L. Blomberg
Average review score:

amazingly useful for all readers
There are more technical and lengthy commentaries on Matthew's gospel, and there are shorter commentaries, but this is the one I reach for most. Dr. Blomberg is a respected and gentle scholar who writes with warmth and yet packs insight into each paragraph. Technical references and interaction with other scholars are kept to the footnotes which makes this a joy to read, a fascinating (yet reliable) description of "what happened" to Jesus, a valuable resource for the Sunday School teacher and a work which now must certainly be consulted regarding any academic research. A welcome addition in today's confusing religious world.

One of the best non-technical commentaries on Matthew
Craig Blomberg has already provided us with what is probably the most lucid introduction to the gospels (Jesus and the Gospels: An Introduction and Survey). Now he has given us one of the finest non-technical commentaries on Matthew's gospel. This work is marked by mature and lucid exegesis that is as edifying as it is informative. Rather than re-shaping the work of other commentators, Blomberg has obviously thought through the exegesis himself, offering concise, clear and cogent explanation of the text. The footnotes offer some interaction with previous and current scholarship. Pastors and teachers will treasure this work.

Best short commentary on Matthew in English
Blomberg's one volume commentary not only is abreast of current scholarship but shows a a deep concern for the poor and needy which is surely the correct social setting for Jesus and Matthew. The books gives in a brief compass helpful insights on many difficult texts.

McCoy Pottery Collectors Reference and Value Guide (McCoy Pottery Collector's Reference and Value Guide, Vol 3)
Published in Hardcover by Collector Books (September, 2001)
Authors: Bob Hanson, Craig Nissen, and Margaret Hanson
Average review score:

This Book Is Too-Cheap for the Money You Save
The authors are fitting and devoted source whose familiarity and love about McCoy Pottery shine through. Every collector of McCoy Pottery should and MUST have this book. This book is aimed at all levels of collectors. It has the wealth of information needed to help beginners make sense of things that may initially seem confusing. With its color photographs, lists prices, and careful organization this book will be of use to collectors and buyers in need of a general pricing guide. In light of the fact that there are so few books on McCoy Pottery I am grateful to the authors for their effort and dedication. Thank you!

MCCOY LOVERS HAVE ALL THE LUCK
With the third collaboration of HNH, McCoy Collectors have all the luck when it comes to having the very rarest and finest examples of McCoy Pottery at their fingertips.
This book provides a generous number of pages on the subject of Floraline, an often overlooked segment of the McCoy Pottery line produced for the floral industry.
HNH have singled out the best of the best when it comes to the rare and non-production lines. The most helpful section in Volume III can be found in the back of the book. Here HNH have cataloged the entire McCoy line that they have covered in each volume. They attribute the era the piece was produced as well as the volume and page number that each piece can be found on.
I can't say it enough, McCoy Lovers have all the luck!

Please join me in celebrating the life of Margaret Hanson, co-author of McCoy Pottery Collector's Reference and Value Guide, Volume III. Margaret passed away at her home near Seattle, WA on November 1, 2001. Her indomitable spirit lives on in all of those who knew her. She is an wonderful example of what living with passion and beauty is all about. Her's was a life well-lived!

A 'Must for any McCoy collector'
I received my new book today and I am so very pleased with it.
It has a hundred of the original catalog pages and very detailed
sizes. With all the reproductions out there it is nice to be able to see the old catalog sheets. In the back there is a wonderful index telling you which of the 3 volumns an item can be found in and the page number. The color photographs are really
beautiful and well done.

Medal of Honor: One Man's Journey from Poverty and Prejudice
Published in Paperback by Batsford Brassey, Inc. (01 October, 1999)
Authors: Roy Perez Benavidez and John R. Craig
Average review score:

The Voice of a True American Hero
MSG Roy Benevidez was an amazing person, and that's putting it mildly. In spite of his fearful wounds from his first tour-of-duty and doctors saying that he would never walk again, he went on to become an elite member of the US Army Special Forces. His actions in combat showed him to be brave, his actions after made him a hero. Roy Benevidez was not out to gain glory and status from his actions, nor did he ever look for pity because of his humble upbringings. Though his ancestry was Mexican-Indian and Hispanic, he always said, "I prefered to think of myself simply as an American." He had a "never say die" attitude, and strong sense of morals. He possesed neither vanity nor false modestly, and he served as an example of what one can accomplish in a lifetime. Sadly, MSG Roy Benevidez died in 1998. He truely was an American Hero! May God bless his soul.

A True American Hero
I was privileged to know and very fortunate to have served with Roy Benavidez. His entire life was a struggle: from his difficult early years in Texas, to his incredible struggle to remain in the Army after his first tour's devastating wounds, to his amazing jump status qualification after the doctors told him he would never walk again, to his incredible heroism that resulted in the MOH (but only after another long battle with the bureaucracy that refused to acknowledge heroism at a time that the country was trying to "forget" Vietnam) and finally, the redemption that came on the White House steps with the MOH ceremony, the "last" MOH given out for Vietnam service. I am glad that Brassey's has put the book out in paperback so that kids can read about Roy and learn to never give up. God Bless You, Roy.

Excellent book, I could not put it down.
Roy Benevidez must have been an incredible person. The feelings and thoughts he shares through out the book shows that behind "The Medal" there was a very real individual. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what really goes through the mind of a hero.

Murder in the Adirondacks : "An American tragedy" revisited
Published in Unknown Binding by North Country Books ()
Author: Craig Brandon
Average review score:

A must read
Murder in the Adirondacks:An American Tragedy Revisited is a must read. It captures and holds a readers attention while teaching them alittle bit about Central New York History. Through the book, a reader begins to "meet" the parties who were involved in this historic case, which was played out so many years ago. And then after getting to know the people, the reader is captivated by the trial and the events which surrounded Mr. Gillette's life immideatly after the verdict. All in all, a great read. I escpecially loved it as a Cortland County resident.

Great for any Upstate New Yorkers
This is a great book about the Chester Gillette murder case of 1906. Gillette took his girlfriend up to Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks and drowned her. He was later tried and executed. His story was turned into the novel 'An American Tragedy' and several movies. I am reading 'American Tragedy' now and it's interesting to see the parallels between the actual case and the fictionalized story.

It was well researched with excellent photo layouts.
I had thought I was well acquainted with the case but discovered many errors in my previous readings after reading this book. The author dispelled many myths about the case, but did not attempt to prove any position without solid facts. Recommend it to my fellow amateur "criminiologists."

My Friend with Autism: A Coloring Book for Peers and Siblings
Published in Paperback by Future Horizons (09 January, 2003)
Authors: Beverly Bishop and Craig Bishop
Average review score:

A "Must Have" For Every Educational Library
"My Friend with Autism" is a wonderful educational tool for teachers, peers of autistic children, and other family members. This book is highly informative, yet simple to understand, and short enough to keep the younger readers' attention. I have bought 4 of these books for my autistic son's teachers, and plan to buy more for my extended family. I will also be using this book next fall to educate my son's first grade class at the beginning of the school year.

Thank you, Ms. Bishop, for creating a brilliant tool!

Buy one for every student in your child's class!
This is the best book ever for the peers of students with autism. The author recommends buying one for every student in the class, and I agree!! The teacher can easily use this book as a lesson plan for helping kids understand an autistic peer. Then, the students take it home for their parents to read, and many new doors are opened for the autistic student! This is a must read for adults and children!!

Much more than a "coloring book!"
My friend with autism is an awesome guide for babysitters, parents, teachers, and anyone who comes in contact with an autistic child. I think Amazon.com's designation as a "coloring book" is confusing. I would recommend it to anyone dealing with Asperger's syndrome. A child can understand it, and an adult can understand it because of its dual purpose.

The Mystery of Shadow Lake

Author: Craig D. Burrus

Family reading at its' Best!!
Although I grew up in the city, as I read "The Mystery of Shadow Lake", I was easily transported into the carefree life of Chris and Luke. The author's style makes you feel as if you are actually there. This is a must read book for any young adult as well as any adult that wants to temporarily forget all of the hustle, bustle and stress filled days. I am avidly looking forward to reading Chris and Luke's new adventures. If you like mystery and fun rolled together, this is the book to read. This is a great gift for the reader in your house.

Great Reading
I just finished reading the book, The Mystery of Shadow Lake by Craig Burrus and it was fun reading. I love the ending and can't wait to read him next book.

Carl Randolph

A very fast paced and exciting mystery
This story of Chris and Luke's adventurous summer is a very fast paced read.

I found that I couldn't put the book down until I knew what happened to the new friends next.

The 'Neutral Zone' beholds strange forces that must be explored, but danger lurks behind each bend!

Neither Poverty Nor Riches: A Biblical Theology of Possessions (New Studies in Biblical Theology)
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (March, 2001)
Authors: Craigl. Blomberg and Craig Blomberg
Average review score:

Challenging, comprehensive overview
I read this book as background for preaching on Christian giving and its relationship to tithing in the Old Testament. Blomberg provides a detailed look at the Bible's teaching on money and possessions, by examining the various biblical corpora.

He also gives sobering, up-to-date information on how Americans spend their money and the proportion of it which they give to Christian missions. His account of his own journey on this issue is one of the many helpful features of the book.

I also appreciated his discussion of capitalism versus socialism. This is done with grace, and should be helpful to you, whatever point of view you have.

As a result of reading this book, I have been challenged to develop a plan for my own giving. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for sensible guidance on Christian stewardship.

The first word on Biblical stewardship (after the Bible)
Craig Blomberg has produced the single best volume on the topic of what Christians should do with their money and other resources.

He surveys hundreds of publications (nearly 700 are listed in the bibliography alone) and also includes relevant discussion of extra/inter/post testament documents from the ancient Levant.

He presents a representitive sample of views and comments on every relevant Biblical passage from Genesis to Revelation in an equitable light.

Not until the final chapter (almost with out exception) does the author "get preachy" and then it is not so much a guilt producing "what you need to do" as it is a humble example of what he has been lead to do with his considerable fortune (by global standards).

If you are at all interested in taking action on this topic your time and money could not be better spent.

A Balanced Approach to Material Possessions
This is a work that the Western Church needs today. With our pre-occupation with vending machine theology, a God who is obligated to give us what WE want Him to, whether it be "health/wealth gospel" preaching or the simple deemphasis of passages that speak on our need for contentment in all things, the author makes a good case for a Biblical view of wealth. One that does not despise the things of the world, nor does it cling to them.

There is nothing extraordinary here to those who have thought on the issue. But it produces a thorough development of the Biblical teachings on weath, synthesizes thsoe teachings well, and given our general LACK of thinking on this issue, it is needed and welcome.

The New York Times International Cookbook
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (April, 1990)
Author: Craig Claiborne
Average review score:

Fabulous!
That's the word for this cookbook. Every recipe I have attempted has been a winner the first time prepared. The meals I have presented from this cookbook have pleased some very tough critics.

Outstanding! The world's best cookbook.
We have lived or visited all over the world, and we have eaten some fantastic meals. This book tells you how to prepare the best of these meals, and they taste just like they did overseas. Every recipe results in the best meal you've ever tasted. Why this book is out of print is a total mystery to me. When we can find a copy, we give them as presents (normally to newlyweds), and we always get rave reviews. One problem: the recipes are time consuming--not many recipes lend themselves to after-work quickie meals. But if you have the time, the food is incredible!

Fantastic. All recipes consistently good.
This book has been my guide to international cooking for at least 15 years. I use it continually. Many of my family's favorites are from this book.
